Your 2020 Collingwood Magpies

The Suncorp Super Netball teams for the 2020 season have been locked in, but have you taken a close look at our Magpies?

Kim Ravaillion and April Brandley have departed the club to become mothers for the first time, and we can’t wait to welcome their baby Magpies into the nest, alongside Ash Brazill and wife Brooke’s first child due at the end of 2019.

Eight athletes from our 2019 squad are sticking around in 2020:

  • Geva Mentor
  • Madi Browne
  • Kelsey Browne
  • Shimona Nelson
  • Nat Medhurst
  • Matilda Garrett
  • Gabby Sinclair
  • Ash Brazill

The depth and experience of our 2020 squad remains impressive, with the likes of Geva Mentor, Madi Browne and Nat Medhurst to line up in the black and white for another year. Shimona Nelson became stronger every round in 2019 and is set for a massive 2020 alongside her fellow young guns Matilda Garrett and Gabby Sinclair.

Ash Brazill, who was recently recalled to the Australian Diamonds squad, returns for the biggest year of her career, in which she will also play for Collingwood in the AFLW competition.

As Kelsey Browne will be sidelined for a portion of 2020, we have signed on Molly Jovic as a replacement player. Molly is a product of the Victorian netball pathway with three championships under her belt and we can’t wait to have her at the Holden Centre come November. Kelsey has extended her contract for another two seasons, so she will be working hard to return to the court as soon as she can.

Melissa Bragg comes into the 10 for 2020 as after a strong season with the Tasmanian Magpies, earning herself an elevation from her previous position as a training partner. Mel has proved herself ready to take on Suncorp Super Netball full-time.

Jodi-Ann Ward joins us as our next newest Magpie, coming from Jamaica to the nest for the 2020 season. She represented Jamaica in the recent netball World Cup and impressed coach Rob Wright with her defensive skills and game play. Jodi-Ann has earned herself an impressive 25 international test caps in only three years of netball, so to say we’re excited to have her as a Magpie in 2020 would be an understatement.
