A trio of Magpies have qualified for this week’s NISSAN Net Points Team of the Round for their performance in Collingwood’s Round 2 clash with the GIANTS on Saturday afternoon.
Jacqui Newton (89 Nissan Net Points) led the way for the Magpies, selected at goal-keeper for her display against English Rose, Jo Harten.
Newton recorded eight gains, six deflections and six rebounds in a vital performance in the absence of Collingwood skipper, Geva Mentor. Newton relished the extra minutes on court and fought out the battle in the shooting circle until the final siren.
Fellow defender Jodi-Ann Ward rounds out an all-Collingwood defensive circle, backing up her solid Round 1 performance with 65.5 Nissan Net Points in Round 2.
Ward was at her athletic best, leading the Magpies in intercepts (three) alongside seven deflections and five gains.
Fan-voted MVP for Round 2, Kelsey Browne claimed the wing-attack position with an impressive 75 Nissan Net Points.
Browne only built upon her Round 1 return with 34 feeds, 21 goal assists and 19 centre-pass receives, continuing her return to form as one of the best mid-court players in the league.
