This afternoon’s game between the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Queensland Firebirds at Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium has been cancelled due to updated quarantine requirements for travellers from Queensland.
The decision was made collectively between Netball Australia’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Susan White, team doctors and both Adelaide Thunderbirds and Queensland Firebirds management, and the Latrobe City Council in the best interest of community and athlete safety and wellbeing.
As per directions from the Victorian Government, players and staff from the Firebirds will isolate and be tested until the results are returned.
The Firebirds arrived in Latrobe Valley on Friday morning in preparation for the weekend’s practice matches against the Thunderbirds and Magpies. The match between Collingwood and the Firebirds Sunday morning is expected to go ahead as planned.
Any guests who had purchased tickets to the game will be contacted directly regarding the refund process.
