Collingwood heads back to Nissan Arena this Saturday for its round six match against the reigning premiers, the NSW Swifts.
Moving into Saturday, the Magpies will reset and refocus on the fundamentals which will help control both the game pace and help them dictate how the game swings over the course of four quarters.
In what’s becoming a regular occurrence, Gabby Sinclair and Nyah Allen’s offensive rotations have been monumental in the Magpies ability to hold onto their recent games. Their distance shooting offers a multitude of different options for the Magpies mid court of Madi and Kelsey Browne to feed the ball both wide and to the post.
The Magpies will be need to be patient and careful with their passing and feeding with in the ring. However, the Swifts strong on-body defence and active hands can wreak havoc to fast-moving and risk-taking offensive efforts.
Co-captain Geva Mentor was dominant on the court last Wednesday night. Continuity from Mentor’s form this weekend will bring much-needed stops to the Swifts attack end which is capable of piling on points through patience, whether it’s through Sam Wallace’s post holding, Helen Housby’s length, and Sophie Garbin’s mobility.
