Collingwood Magpies have farewelled mid-courter Kimiora Poi after a stellar inaugural Super Netball season.

The Silver Fern made the move to Australia in May to replace Madi Browne, after the co-captain suffered a season-ending knee injury on the eve of the 2019 campaign.

Poi slotted into the Pies line-up with ease. The 21-year-old made her debut in round six against the NSW Swifts and went on to play seven games for the season.

In round 13 Poi played an integral role in a season highlight, the Magpies’ upset victory over top placeholder NSW Swifts. Poi took the court to replace teammate Kelsey Browne after Browne went down with a knee injury in the second quarter.

Collingwood’s GM of Women’s Sport, Jane Woodlands-Thompson, thanked Poi for her contribution to the Pies’ success.

“We can’t thank Kimi enough for being a part of the Magpies’ 2019 campaign,” Woodlands-Thompson said.

“From the get-go Kimi fitted in so well with the playing group. There was chemistry evident on and off the court.

“Kimi will be greatly missed at Collingwood. We look forward in seeing where her netball career takes her.”

Poi was awarded international selection with the Silver Ferns last Thursday and is set to face Australia in the Constellation Cup in October.

Poi returns to New Zealand to play for the NZ Tactix in 2020.
