Collingwood is pleased to confirm two new training partners will join the squad for the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball season.
The Magpies will welcome two exciting up-and-coming talents in Emma Walters and Melissa Olomanu to the Holden Centre as training partners for the 2021 season.
An electric mid-courter, Walters has made a name for herself from the early stages of her career, working her way through the ranks of state and national netball.
A Victorian Institute of Sport athlete, Walters has represented both her state and country, most recently earning selection in the Australian 21 and Under Squad for 2021.
Her prowess through the mid-court has made her a player to watch, named in the 19 and Under Victorian Netball League (VNL) Team of the Year in 2019, as she established herself as one of the most reliable mid-courters in the competition.
Walters will add excitement and enthusiasm to the Wing Attack and Centre positions in the black and white, while also bringing a level of connection and composure beyond her years.
Down the other end of the court, Olomanu will provide depth in defence across Wing Defence, Goal Defence and Goal Keeper.
Like Walters, Olomanu is a Victorian Institute of Sport athlete who has grown through the Netball Victoria pathway, qualifying for both the 17 and Under State Squad in 2020, as well as the Netball Australia Under 17 Centre of Excellence.
Priding herself on her vertical leap, court vision and ability to read the play, Olomanu is not afraid to hunt a long ball while providing plenty of voice through the defensive circle.
The athletic defender has proven herself as a player who can thrive in big moments, earning Player of the Match in a winning 2019 VNL Grand Final alongside Team of the Year selection.
The pair will join the squad in the week leading up to Round 1, when the Magpies return home to John Cain Arena to take on the Sunshine Coast Lightning at 7pm this Saturday. Tickets are on sale now.
