Collingwood Magpies mid-courter Kelsey Browne has ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), with scans today confirming the injury to Browne’s left knee.
The vice-captain sustained the injury during the second quarter of the match against the NSW Swifts on Saturday afternoon. Browne will consult with her surgeon this week.
Browne’s replacement in the Magpies squad will be determined later in the week.
“We’re all very disappointed for Kelsey, who has had a stand-out season this year”, Collingwood GM of Women’s Sport, Jane Woodlands-Thompson, said.
“To remain at the game afterwards, supporting her teammates on the sideline, reflects the strong leader and selfless teammate that Kelsey is.”
Until Saturday, 2019 had been an outstanding year for Browne. The mid-courter won national honours, tallied up 50 national league games and brought home silver honours with the Australian Diamonds at the 2019 Netball World Cup in July.
