Pies To Face Thunderbirds Test In Traralgon

The Magpies will host the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Traralgon for a practice match.

Magpies Netball will begin to ramp up its preparation for the 2018 SSN season when it hosts the Adelaide Thunderbirds in a practice match in the Latrobe Valley on Saturday March 3.

After meeting the Giants in Hobart for two practice matches in February, the Magpies will welcome the travelling Thunderbirds to Traralgon.

The club will hold a strong presence in the Latrobe Valley over the first weekend of March, with Collingwood’s AFLW team set to take on the Western Bulldogs at the Ted Summerton Reserve in Moe on Sunday 4 March.

The scheduled fixtures form part of a club-wide partnership between Collingwood and the Latrobe Valley Authority, which is committed to resourcing and supporting different sporting events in the Latrobe Valley region.

Collingwood's AFL team recently visited the region for its community camp, and will return to the Valley on March 10 when it faces the Bulldogs in its JLT Community Series fixture.

However, with Magpies Netball's SSN season kicking off in April, the side will be looking to fine-tune its pre-season with a solid hit out against the Thunderbirds.

Magpies Netball’s newest recruit Erin Bell will come up against her former team for the first time in Traralgon, while a host of other Magpies will take to the court in front of a passionate local crowd.
