Magpies have placed outstanding mid-courter Madi Browne on the long-term injury list following surgery today to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.
The co-captain will be sidelined for the season as she recovers from the injury she sustained in a pre-season game against the Vixens at Bendigo stadium.
Training partner Kelsie Rainbow will continue to act as Browne’s temporary replacement.
“We’re really disappointed for Madi that she’ll spend an extended period of time out of the game. She has had such an impressive preseason and had been outstanding on court. She is also a fantastic leader of our team,” said Magpies coach, Rob Wright.
“This is a case of life being unfair. Although she’ll be out of action on court, there is a lot of opportunity for Madi to continue to be involved with the team behind the scenes.”
Browne was heading into her third season as a Magpie and had only recently called time on her International career to concentrate on the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball campaign. Browne played 61 tests for the national team and is a two-time winner of domestic netball’s highest individual honour, the Liz Ellis diamond.
