The champion mid-courter was sidelined for the 2019 season after injuring her right knee in a pre-season game in April against the Vixens at Bendigo Stadium.

Browne is a foundation Magpie who co-captained the squad this year with Geva Mentor.

Across a 13 year career, Browne has earned 61 test caps for the Australian Diamonds and is the first two-time winner of domestic netball’s highest individual honour, the Liz Ellis Diamond.

In mid-2018, the mid-courter announced her retirement from the national team to focus on her role at Collingwood. Browne has played 29 matches for the Pies, after crossing from the Melbourne Vixens at the end of the 2016 season. She has played a total of 164 matches.

Browne’s signature settles the Magpies’ list for 2020.

Collingwood’s GM of Women’s Sport, Jane Woodlands-Thompson, looks forward to having Browne return to the game.

“It’s been a tough year for Madi and we commend her spirit and her dedication to the club whilst sidelined for the year,” Woodlands-Thompson said.

“Madi’s loyalty to the Pies is important to acknowledge, she is one of two remaining foundation players and has played an integral part in shaping the team over the past three years.”

“We can’t wait to see Madi back in action next year.”
